Time for what Matters

I have just had the absolute pleasure of spending some time in Amsterdam with my teenage daughters. Getting to know the people they are becoming, distinct from being my daughters, fills me with wonder, gratitude and awe. It also brought me up sharp when I thought about the way my time is used, the way I use my time. I am sure I am not alone in taking for granted those parts of my life which are stable, I guess its is human nature to give attention to the biggest noise in the room.
Being away with my girls make me realise that actually I must make a conscious effort to make time for the things which matter most, quiet moments and lazy lunches, a long conversation and watching another Tik Tok with my 14 year old. Sharing a playlist and a meal, a laugh and an experience, this is the currency of life and can not always wait.
I can know this and be gentle with myself, I, as with most people I know and work with, get up each morning and do my best, occasionally I step a little off the ideal path! I can choose to be light with myself as I steer this course. So many people I meet take themselves to task as though every slight mis step is a deliberate and wilful act of neglect. Maybe it is more helpful to simple recognise it for what it is, time for a change, and set a new course.
I for one am off to have a cinema date with my 16 year old whilst she is still prepared to be seen in my company!
Happy Easter and Welcome to Spring
